Center of Barcelona will be free of cars on weekends

Some parts of the most loaded streets of Barcelona La Diagonal and Passeig de Gràcia on Sundays will be available for pedestrians only. 

Part of La Diagonal between Plaza Francesc Macià and Plaza de las Glòries will be closed for cars every Sunday from 9a.m. till 17 p.m. Besides, Passeig de Gràcia in between Cinc d'Oros and Gran Via will be closed as well. 

This tentative project, which was presented by the city administration, will be valid till March 2015. According to the plans of the city administration, on the covered parts of streets there will be chairs, tables and chaise lounges for pedestrians. If this project is about to be successful, other streets of the city will be involved in it.
