Louvre is on the repair until 2017

One of the most visited museums in the world Louvre is on restoration, the main aim of which is to improve conditions for the admission of visitors.

For a several years the number of visitors of the museums is nine million, while during the construction of the Big Louvre in 1980s there were three million visitors.

"Thanks to the success of our museum, the number of visitors increased, so there is a lot of people at the entry , as well as long queues" - says the head of the Louvre Museum Jean-Luc Martinez.

Project "Pyramids" aims at improving of the conditions for the admission of visitors and providing information. 70 % of all visitors - foreigners, more than a half visit the museum for the first time.

Works will be finished in the beginning of 2017. They will cost 53.5 million euro. During the restoration museum will function as usual.
