Russian cities conquer the European rating of TripAdvisor

International web portal TripAdvisor gave to the world the results of the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice 2016 Award, which annually chooses the most attractive tourist destinations of the world according to travelers view. The third consecutive year St. Petersburg becomes the best city in Russian Federation.

The city on the Neva took 8th place in the ranking of the top tourist destinations in Europe (rising by 1 position in comparison with 2015) and 14th - in the global rankings (going up from 17 line). 3.7 million of Russian tourists and 2.8 million of foreign guests had visited St. Petersburg last year.

In the European list two Russian cities appeared for the first time. It is Moscow (24th place) and Sochi (19th place). Also Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Krasnodar, Kirov and Anapa entered in the Russian top-10.The first two places in the global top went to London and Istanbul, the third is given to Marrakech and the forth – to Paris.

Awards holders were chosen using a special algorithm that takes into account the number and quality of the reviews and ratings that TripAdvisor site visitors gave to the hotels, restaurants and cafes, museums and attractions of various world destinations during the previous 12 months, as well as on the basis of reservations made on TripAdvisor.
