The city in architecture and monuments r

The bronze sculpture was set up on the, in the former times, Strastnaya Square in 1880. The competition on creation the project of the monument was won by the famous sculptor-monumentalist A. Opekushin. The pedestal for the sculpture was made by the admirer of the Pseudo-Russian style I. Bogomolov. The figure of the poet was set up on high pedestal, which symbolized the special obeisance of the high spiritually of the author. The pedestal has the refined steps and up-directed socle. The basement is surrounded by eighteen not high pedestals from granite. On each pedestal there is a bronze wreath, and the garlands from bay leafs connect them together. The figure of Alexander Pushkin looks so natural, that it is seems like he is alive. The poet hold his hat with his left hand behind the back, and the right hand is laid over the side of his coat. It is seems like the poet is about to come down from the pedestal because of his put forward left leg.

Alexander Pushkin, who was born in the end of the XVIII century, is considered for right the greatest Russian poet, dramatist and prose writer. He originates from not very famous noble family Pushkin. Not once in his creation the author appeals to the personality of his umbilical ancestor - African Abram Petrovich Ganibal, who served in the pay of the Emperor Peter the Great and, later, became military engineer and rose to the rank of the general.

Some literary editions say about a certain excellence of the works of Alexander Pushkin, placing him among Dante Alighieri and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Yet during his life Alexander Pushkin was considered by contemporaries as genius and around his personality the real cult was created. His poems, such as "Ruslan and Ludmila" and "Bronze Horseman" were filmed and fill up the halls of the opera and ballet theatres with visitors to present day. Not only Russian, but also foreign movies were filmed by the novel in verse "Eugene Onegin". His dramatic talent the author realized in immortal works "Boris Godunov" and "Feast in time of plague". And, of course, childhood of each Russian kid is inseparably connected with his fairy tales.
