Gulyai, Maslenitsa 2018 Festival in St. Petersburg

On 10-18 February 2018, St. Petersburg will host Gulyai, Maslenitsa Festival in the Malaya Konyushennaya Street. The grand fest will open on February 10 at 13h.

The bright and amazing agenda of Maslenitsa open-air festivities is divided into subject blocks. There are folk entertainments, such as the tug-of-war, sack racing, Maslenitsa dressing, crowded round dances, fun contests to check knowledge of folk traditions and rituals, lively dances, and performances of folk music groups.

On February 18, Care to Children charity of social projects will hold a charitable win-win lottery. Everyone will have an opportunity to give a piece of his or her heart and care to kids from multi-child families living in a deprived background.

The farriery workshop will be a central event of the festival. A maestro will introduce participants to specifics of his handicraft and make souvenirs for those who wish.Every day from 10h to 20h, a fair will be open with a wide range of various handmade souvenirs, handicrafts, and holiday sweets. Guests will be able to taste national cuisine including pancakes with various fillings, spicy buckwheat porridge, honey and apple sbiten (hot Russian drink), and make gifts for friends and relatives with own hands.

Merry open-air Maslenitsa festivities will also occur in many city parks and art centres of St. Petersburg.
