NEW PLANETARIUM MAY APPEAR IN ST. PETERSBURG

16-11-2016

At the scientific conference "Influence of Creative Component on Destination Development," Yevgeny Gudov, founder and owner of Lumiere Hall creative space in St. Petersburg, said about plans to open the biggest planetarium in the world. He believes that it is quite possible and feasible to build the planetarium with a diameter of 37 meters in the building on the Obvodny Channel.

So far, the Nagoya City Science Museum, located in Japan, has been recognized the world's largest planetarium. Its diameter is 35 meters. Therefore, if plans by Gudov and his supporters come true, the new St. Petersburg planetarium will beat the record of the Japanese building. Now the project is in talks between its authors and local authorities. Then, exterior and interior designs will be completed and by summer of 2017, as initiators estimate, it will be possible to proceed to direct construction activities.

To solve the problem of power supply in a big way, the initiators suggest equipping the facility with a number of autonomous powerful wind turbines. Owners of Lumiere Hall creative space are making plans to invest about 100 million roubles of own funds in planetarium construction and by all means attract future-oriented investors with broad financial capabilities.
