Troika appeared and got its name about 200 years ago. It is the only harnessing in the world with horses racing in different gait. The shaft horse in the center must have a quick and efficient trot, and the trace horses on both sides need to gallop. Herewith a very high speed of 45-50 km/h can be developed.
