Shuvalov, who bought the presented mansion by princess Proskovia Ivanovna (niece of Peter the Great) to Semenovsky Regiment. After the death of A. Shuvalov the palace was owned by his daughter and son. In 1795 the Empress Catherine II bought the mansion and gave it as a present to the niece of G. Potemkin, countess A. Branizkaya. In 1830 the palace was purchased by B. Yusupov. Since then the owners of the palace was five generations of the famous noble Yusupov family till 1917.
