ANNUAL ICE FIGURES FEST ON ZAYACHIY ISLAND

On November 26, in the Peter-and-Paul Fortress the next festival of ice figures will be opened. It is called the Ice Fantasy. This event has already caught the fancy of both local residents and city guests. This year, two figures will make an exhibition core: a huge cock, which in the Oriental calendar is a symbol of coming 2017, and a six-meter sailing ship. Visitors will also have a chance to judge designers’ skills in smaller-scale sculptures of characters from fairy tales and animated cartoons known to everybody.

The exhibition will last until March 1. To avoid vagaries of unpredictable St. Petersburg weather, festival organizers are going to put a tailor-made tent of 1,000 square meters at Naryshkin bastion with a temperature kept at a fixed level below zero. Not less than 125 tons of ice are to be used to make exhibits. To achieve the best look of this amazing stuff at the show, organisers will provide it with suitable lighting above.

Opening hours of the ice figures exhibition will be every day from 10.00 to 22.00. Adults will have to pay an entrance fee of 500 roubles, while for kids visitors will pay 300 roubles.
