Building of the Palace with the 125 meters length and 45 meters height together with the court square forms a quadrangle and faces the Kremlin embankment. According to the idea of the Emperor Nicholas I, the palace was supposed to be a witness of the Russian Army's triumphal. The construction works were held under the management K. Ton, the founder of the Russian-Byzantine style in architecture. The traditional for the Russian architecture elements, such as windows decorated with patterned frames and vaults, were used in the outer finishing. In construction of the Grand Kremlin Palace the main architect made an accentuated on using of the innovative technology of that times: large-span arches, made of brick, complex metal constructions for roofs, and used for the first time for casting of sculptures cement. The edifice houses more than 700 rooms and halls. In the inner decoration, which is remarkable for its sophisticated taste and elegant, you may see interiors from the Renaissance to Russian-Byzantine style. Five gala halls (Georgievsky, Vladimirsky, Aleksandrovsky, Andreyevsky, and Ekaterininsky) were designed in the stylistics of each of the Orders of Russian Empire. The Grand Kremlin Palace is considered as a museum of the Russian palace architecture by right.
